Could You Remind Me

Written for Nina, on the Hume Hwy. There's no rhythm, barely any rhyme, but there are lessons learnt. Apologies for the past to present to past tensiness, but life's like that.

Could you remind me,
Just how you loved me.
That my memory doesn't deceive me,
That we meant to love
Till eternity,

Could you remind me,
That our intensity,
Was not just naivety,
That just because you appreciated
My cumbersome mind,
We were meant to be.
It still ended.

Could you tell me,
That dreams of doctors in white
In hand, in arms, in sight
Meant something.
That your dreams fractured
When mine shattered,
That you cared!

Could you remind me,
Though your name means light to my lips,
Meant mostly reaching for darkness
At my finger tips.

Could you remind me, that beautiful sparks
Burn
To embers cold by dawn.
That romance is for the young,
Not for life.

Can you tell me,
I need a new way, a new prescription,
An alternate
For a longer evermore.
Because years are
Left wanting,
Leaves me waiting.

I need you to remind me,
So I stop holding
On to something that still broke
In my nursing arms.
